πŸŽƒThe Great Pumpkin Path & Trunk-or-Treat: Free Fall Fun πŸŽƒ

By Joyce Campbell, Macaroni KID Publisher September 15, 2026

Okay, parents. We made it through a full week of school, well, almost. The backpacks are loaded, the lunchboxes are broken in, and somewhere between the homework, sports practices, and play rehearsals, fall snuck up on us again. Good news? There's a free, family friendly event coming up that basically hands you an entire Autumn evening of fun, no planning required.

Here's the scoop:

On Friday, October 2, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, the Village Green at The Neighborhood Guild (325 Columbia St., South Kingstown) transforms into The Great Pumpkin Path & Trunk-or-Treat, hosted by South Kingstown Parks & Recreation. Walk a path of painted pumpkins created by community members, then enjoy Trunk-or-Treating with South Kingstown's First Responders, including our local Police. πŸš“πŸ¬

So picture this: a path lined with pumpkins, each one painted by a neighbor, a classmate, a scout troop, or your kid's art teacher who definitely went above and beyond. You stroll through, admire the creativity, pick your favorites (or just argue about them gently with your five-year-old), and then head over to the Trunk-or-Treat where local first responders open their decorated car trunks and hand out candy. It's trick-or-treating without the mile-long neighborhood loop, which, honestly, is a gift.

Want to help fill the Pumpkin Path? You've got a week to paint! 🎨

Your family can be part of the display. There are two ways to join in:

Paint with us: Swing by the SK Recreation Center from September 28 through October 1, 10 AM–6 PM. Pumpkins and paint are provided, and it's FREE with no registration required. Just show up and get creative!
Bring your own: Already have a masterpiece in mind? Painted or carved pumpkins are both welcome. Drop yours off at the SK Recreation Center anytime from September 28 through October 2 at 3 PM, and it'll join the path on Friday evening.
Every pumpkin painted becomes part of the magic on October 2,
so grab the kids, pick a pumpkin, and add your family's touch to the trail. πŸŽƒβœ¨

The whole thing is FREE. Rain or shine. If the weather doesn't cooperate, they'll move it inside The Guild, so you don't have to gamble on the forecast.

Know Before You Go:

  • πŸ…ΏοΈ Arrive early for the best pumpkin path experience.
  • 🌧️ Dress for the weather; it's rain or shine (rain site is inside The Guild)
  • 🍬 Trunk-or-Treat means kids go trick-or-treating from decorated car trunks, so bring a bag or bucket
  • πŸ‘Ά Great for all ages and totally free!!

Joyce's Jungle is proud to sponsor this event again, and if you didn't know, Joyce's Jungle has been connecting families with nature, animals, and hands on outdoor fun since 1999. From scales to tails, and fluff and flowers, her programs are all about getting kids curious and a little bit messy. πŸ¦ŽπŸ‚

And here's a treat on top of the treat: Joyce's Jungle is teaming up with Macaroni Kid to hand out FREE Boo-Bags for the kiddos! πŸ‘»πŸŽ Each Boo-Bag will include local deals, info, class offerings, fun activities, and, of course, candy! Come early — once the Boo-Bags are gone, they're gone, just like the candy πŸŽƒπŸ¬

So grab a hoodie, round up the kids, and come walk the path. We'll see you there, probably with a toddler on someone's hips and a candy stash already in progress.

When: Friday, October 2, 2026, 5:00 - 7:00 PM Where: Village Green at The Neighborhood Guild, 325 Columbia St., South Kingstown, RI Cost: FREE Details: Rain or shine (rain site inside The Guild). Pumpkins are limited, come early!
